Richard "Rick" D. Gibbs, III is a Florida native and has been boating for over 50 years. After attending New Mexico Military Institute, Rick attended Florida Southern College and received a bachelor's degree in marketing management. Rick was first licensed to sell and began writing boat, home, and auto insurance back in 1987, working in his father's State Farm agency. After Rick's father Dick Gibbs retired in 1999, Rick took over the office building and expanded the independent agency---growing the business into a large multi-lines insurance agency represented by over 60 insurance companies and 5,000 clients. In 2018, Rick sold the agency and took a year off. Rick is actively engaged in most all insurance organizations such as; Professional Insurance Agents, Florida Association of Insurance Agents, Latin American Association of Insurance Agents, Independent Insurance Agents Broward County, and a member of the marine industries association, as well as studying to obtain his captain's license. Lauderdale Marine Underwriters was recently founded to focus and concentrate on marine related insurance risks only----from PWC's and center console boats to large yachts, boat repair facilities, marinas, boat dealers, and marine contractors.

Ricks hobbies include boating and fishing, cruising the New river, and spending time in the lower keys.
